Here is a brief biographical sketch of Bro. Adolphe Glay taken from the reports of his death and funeral in the Cowichan Leader newspaper:
“Glay – Mr. George Adolphe Glay, 70, Stamps Road, retired C.N.R. divisional superintendent, died suddenly of a heart attack yesterday afternoon.
  Funeral arrangements are in the hands of Hirst Funeral  Chapel, Duncan.”

“Glay – A former divisional superintendent of the C.N.R., Mr. George Adolphe Glay, 70, died suddenly at Duncan on Wednesday of last week.
        Born in  St. Paul, Minn., U.S.A., he was for many years divisional superintendent of the  C.N.R. and came to Duncan six years ago to retire from Kamloops. Mr. Glay had  previously resided at Prince Rupert and Winnipeg. He was a member of Sioux  Lookout Lodge No 4518, A.F. & A.M. [Note:  The original newspaper article says Sioux Lookout Lodge No. 4518. Sioux Lookout  Lodge in Ontario is actually No. 518.]
        He is  survived by his wife, Winifred, and one son, George Albert, a well-known New  York author. He was predeceased by a son, Louis Orlin, R.C.A.F., killed in  action in 1942; two brothers, Albert, Malden, Wash., and Benjamin, Niles, Ohio.
        Funeral  services were held on Saturday at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, conducted by the  Rev. John Low. The hymn sung was ‘Abide With Me’ with Mr. E.C. French at the  organ.
        Pallbearers  were Messrs. H. Gratton, Bill Walden, Bill Greensides, James MacMasters, Eric  Birch Jones and Bernard Kitson. Honorary pallbearers wre Messrs. Bradshaw  Harrison, Henry Baylay, Brice Bunny and Col. M.E. Dopping-Hepenstal.
          Interment  was at the churchyard cemetery.”
